INGREDIENT SPOTLIGHT: HYALURONIC ACID & MEADOWFOAM SEED OIL

Thanks to advancements in product formulation, the days of makeup causing skin issues like acne, dullness, and fine lines are mostly in the rearview. But why not ask even more of your cosmetics? At CLOVE + HALLOW, we think makeup can do better than just keeping your complexion at stasis. It should work hard to improve your skin, too.

Enter two of our favorite ingredients for making skin brighter, plumper, and more balanced: hyaluronic acid and meadowfoam seed oil. We added them to our Hydraglow luminizing serum and Hydratint Blush Serum to give your skin a visible boost, even after you take off your makeup. Here’s exactly how they work:

HYALURONIC ACID

H.A. isn’t just a popular skin care ingredient—it’s a naturally occurring substance found in the body to keep your complexion, joints, and eyes hydrated. The powerful humectant draws and retains moisture in the skin (up to a thousand times its weight in water!) and keeps it from evaporating. But like collagen, your body starts to create less H.A. as you age, exactly why it’s so important to apply topically. When used in skin care and makeup, it fights dryness, plumps, softens, brightens, and smooths lines.

MEADOWFOAM SEED OIL

Derived from the meadowfoam flower, this skin superhero locks in moisture like any topical oil. What makes it extra special, though, is its ability to balance out the skin’s natural oil production. (Its composition is extremely similar to your skin’s own sebum, so it’ll “train” your oil glands to produce less oil.) If that wasn’t enough, meadowfoam oil is a potent antioxidant that protects skin from environmental aggressors like UV rays and pollution. When used in a skin care or makeup formula, it can even keep other ingredients from oxidizing—meaning your favorite products will last longer.
